The Apple iCar could be available in 2020.

According to Bloomberg Apple will start EV production in 2020.

But Tesla is 10y ahead of Google and Apple:

The Tesla S

Tesla_S_The Tesla S is the highest quality (based on Consumer Reports), safest (based on NHTSA testing) and fastest sedan (the latest version of the P85D sedan accelerates from 0-60mph in 3.1 seconds).  >30,000 units were sold in 2014.

The Model X:

The Model X will be introduced in 2015.

The Model 3:

Will be 80% the size of the S and introduced in 2017. It will have a range of 200 miles and be priced at $35,000.

Issues:

Tesla CEO Elon Musk told Bloomberg Businessweek this month that Apple was seeking to hire away his workers, offering $250,000 signing bonuses and 60 percent salary increases.
