Dubai_Museum_of_the_Future_2_150312His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai announced on March 4, 2015 that Dubai will open a Museum of the Future in 2017.  The Museum will be designed to reflect a new approach to Government Innovation.

Shaikh Mohammad shared, “the Museum will be an incubator for ideas and designs and host innovation labs on Education, Health, Smart Cities, Renewable Energy and Transportation.” These will support four of the seven sectors where the UAE will focus its Innovation efforts announced earlier in October, 2014.

Shaikh Mohammad shared, “This is the first step of many more to come (to help us drive to becoming the most innovative nation in the world by 2021).”

We find the term Government Innovation to be very interesting.  We have not seen it used before.  Looking through a Value Innovation lens, we are tempted to interpret it as Government at the Federal, State and Local levels defining how they can bring value to their most important customers, namely: Taxpayers (both companies and individuals), UAE citizens and Visitors to the UAE.

Do you agree with us, or do you have a different take on Government Innovation?  What are your thoughts?
